This is one great place - trip advisor review
Eugene, Oregon
After a long day of traveling: Granada to Algeciras to Tangier. via bus and ferry, this was one great place to finish!
The room was beautiful. The tea service on the terrace after check-in was far beyond any possible expectations. The terrace itself, with the view of the Atlantic, was wonderful. We couldn't have been happier!
In the morning was a breakfast which we didn't see improved the whole time we were in Morocco-- 3 weeks. Location to the Socorro Grande was perfect: far enough to give us a break, near enough to make it possible with relative ease.
Short version: we could happily have spent more time at La Tangerina and less time at some of the places we stayed later in our trip!
This is totally recommended for comfort, feeling welcome. and any other measure you might choose. No, I don't work for them... but I wish I could

“Oasis in a crumbling city” - a trip advisor review
La Tangerina is an oasis of peace and tranquility, hidden in what is a filthy , dirty, seedy and unattractive town.

The rooms are fantastic, especially those with a sea view, and the service is excellent. If you fancy a relaxed dinner, they will cook you a meal that you can eat on the roof terrace, of which there was plenty and reasonably priced.

Only one issue was despite having given our credit card to pay, we were asked to pay cash on check out as they had no facility to use credit cards. Ensure you have cash handy to pay.
As a word of warning to those straight off the boat, many locals who meet arrivals will spin you a yarn on why you should have them escort you anywhere. Our experience was one met with rude and agressive locals bombarding you for cash, like nowhere else in the world I have been. Get a cab to this hotel.

A great experience at La Tangerina - Texas Star, Madrid.
I could go on and on about the gorgeous hotel, furnished with vintage/antique furniture (even old radios) the owners collected in their travels around Morocco. The service is great, the rooms comfortable and the bathrooms adorable.
Tea on the rooftop patio and breakfast with fellow travelers were the highlights. Don't be shy about asking for traveling advice at the front desk. they set us up with a car and guide for a one-day excursion down the coast to Asilah, which was wonderful (and very cheap, about 50 euros for both of us). They also mentioned to us that they are trying to offer travelers hiking excursions and more "sporty" adventures. The whole experience has made us want to use b&b/guesthouses more than hotels in the future.

La Tangerina the No1 hotel in Tangiers according to Trip Advisor
In another world Arriving in Tangier from Tarifa (South Spain) the hotel is at walking distance, but at the high end of the Kashba, so you may prefer a taxi. The hosts and owners, Jurgen and Farida, are very pleasant, hosiptable and helpful. The hotel is lovely and restored with great love and attention to detail in the local style.
From our room we could see Spain across the Mediterranean, binoculars provided on the shelf next to the bed!
The Hammam was a very worthwhile experience.
From the hotel just stroll down through the Kasbah and the Souk, see the American Legation, and then through the gate and across the open air market, up the steps to the Cafe de Paris for a cup of coffee. Make sure to see St Andrew's Church (up the hill, behind the Mosque) and greet caretaker Mustapha ("Mr. Thankyouverymuch") for us.
