Wonderful!

From: Duane Coyle

My traveling companion and I spent three nights at La Tangerina and had a great experience. Our hosts and staff were gracious and accomodating without being suffocating. Also, one has the opportunity to sit around the fireplace in the evening and compare notes with the other guests about the experiences of their day. The hotel is immaculate, but casual. I enjoyed seeing Tangier and the nearby areas and simply being immersed in something different. A very good time.

Bountiful Tanger

What a great time of the year to be wandering around the souks of Tanger.

The hustle and bustle is as always but the harvest is in: feast your eyes on the explosion of colours and smells, the contrasts and textures of natures annual bounty.

The happy butcher

Grernadines and onions

Green peppers

The sheer abundance brings a smile and a hearty appetite.

Bon apetit Tanger.

Happy 10th Birthday to Ines

Guapas Canarias

Tangier tennis club was swinging last Sunday when La Tangerina crew, family and friends descended to celebrate Ines's 10th Birthday.

Ines and Danny

It was a beautiful day made all the better by a surprise party that even caught me by surprise and I knew about it!

Faridas birthday surprise

Big thanks to Ines for the invite and to Pepe, Berta, lucky, Cesar and Miriam for making the after party such fun, my place next time enshalla.

Todo un placer

From: Sofía

“Oasis in a crumbling city” - a trip advisor review

Trip advisor users rate us No.1 Hotel in Tangier

La Tangerina is an oasis of peace and tranquility, hidden in what is a filthy , dirty, seedy and unattractive town.

The rooms are fantastic, especially those with a sea view, and the service is excellent. If you fancy a relaxed dinner, they will cook you a meal that you can eat on the roof terrace, of which there was plenty and reasonably priced.

Only one issue was despite having given our credit card to pay, we were asked to pay cash on check out as they had no facility to use credit cards. Ensure you have cash handy to pay.

As a word of warning to those straight off the boat, many locals who meet arrivals will spin you a yarn on why you should have them escort you anywhere. Our experience was one met with rude and agressive locals bombarding you for cash, like nowhere else in the world I have been. Get a cab to this hotel.

If your house hunting in the Tangier area stay at La Tangerina Hotel

Tangier Property offers year round value and this interesting report - makes good reading for those looking to escape the credit crunch and negative equity of the uk property market.

"If you're blessed with year-round good weather then year-round use of a home follows," says Holiday Rentals' Sarah Chambers. The best-known examples, such as Barbados, are the most expensive and most packed, but there are plenty of alternatives, typified by Morocco.
Tangier, Morocco, is 'like Spain, but sunnier'

Tangier is one of six Moroccan locations identified by the government to boost visitors from six million annually to 10m by 2011. There will be 600 miles of new roads and a 24-mile tunnel linking Tangier to Punta Palomas in Spain, 25 miles west of Gibraltar. There is now a daily hydrofoil from Malaga and car ferries take only 35 minutes from Tarifa.

Tangier is like an unspoilt Spanish city, but is slightly further south so even sunnier. There is plenty to do, too, and there is little sign that this is a Muslim country.

There are plenty of traditional riads, each built around an ornate courtyard, while outside the main town there is a major redevelopment of the coast. Part of this is the 2,500-home Tinja scheme. "These homes can be used throughout the year because of the good climate and facilities," says Majid Bennouna of Emaar, the Dubai-based developer.

Stephen Moss of the Hideaways Club, which offers fractional ownership of homes across the Mediterranean and has two properties in Morocco, says: "There is winter sun from September to April. A range of activities allow for different trips throughout the year, from trekking or skiing in the Atlas Mountains, to the history, culture and shopping oportunities in Marrakech.

"Being able to use the property during the year has a number of advantages," he adds. "For instance, you are not obliged to pay peak rates for plane tickets - and you are not restricted to a certain time of year to visit."

Perfect! Simply perfect!

From: Michael Johansson

I had a weeks stay in La Tangerina in mid May. I came in from Egypt and it was like going to heaven when I entered the hotel here. So beautiful, so nice, so calm, so good energies, so peaceful, so perfect!

I am a photographer and travel the world in my work. When it comes to hotels/riads, La Tangerina is on my top 10 list.

As my good old friend Arnold says: "I'll be back!"

Salut and cheers! Mike

A great experience at La Tangerina - Texas Star, Madrid.

I could go on and on about the gorgeous hotel, furnished with vintage/antique furniture (even old radios) the owners collected in their travels around Morocco. The service is great, the rooms comfortable and the bathrooms adorable.

Tea on the rooftop patio and breakfast with fellow travelers were the highlights. Don't be shy about asking for traveling advice at the front desk. they set us up with a car and guide for a one-day excursion down the coast to Asilah, which was wonderful (and very cheap, about 50 euros for both of us). They also mentioned to us that they are trying to offer travelers hiking excursions and more "sporty" adventures. The whole experience has made us want to use b&b/guesthouses more than hotels in the future.

La Tangerina family

La Tangerina's décor - European colonial with hints of Arabesque

What a wonderful beautiful place, thank you for making me feel at home in Tanger. For your hospitality and friendship. This hotel inspires me on many different levels. It has inspired me to decorate my home (one day when I am no longer a gypsy poet) with great attention to detail.
On another level it has inspired me to always live in a home full of laughter, many different stories and languages.
When you make your trip to America I would love to show you around New York and Oregon.
I will probably be there, unless of course I fall in love on another continent.
Chukran, Merci, Gracias, Obrigada, Thanks

La Tangerina the No1 hotel in Tangiers according to Trip Advisor

In another world 5 of 5 stars

Arriving in Tangier from Tarifa (South Spain) the hotel is at walking distance, but at the high end of the Kashba, so you may prefer a taxi. The hosts and owners, Jurgen and Farida, are very pleasant, hosiptable and helpful. The hotel is lovely and restored with great love and attention to detail in the local style.

From our room we could see Spain across the Mediterranean, binoculars provided on the shelf next to the bed!

The Hammam was a very worthwhile experience.

From the hotel just stroll down through the Kasbah and the Souk, see the American Legation, and then through the gate and across the open air market, up the steps to the Cafe de Paris for a cup of coffee. Make sure to see St Andrew's Church (up the hill, behind the Mosque) and greet caretaker Mustapha ("Mr. Thankyouverymuch") for us.
